Cultural vs. genetic; I didn't really phrase that properly.

I can see how it evolved from your original idea then, heh.

-AshAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2121153669011167070.post-64201387131952342912011-04-25T08:47:44.278-07:002011-04-25T08:47:44.278-07:00Ash,
My original post started off as me talking a...Ash,

My original post started off as me talking about being a storyteller and how I have to compete with today's ADD-esque attention span. Somewhere along the way, it actually evolved into the points I was touching on above. I managed to salvage a bit of what I'd written before, from the cobwebs of my mind. Some of it came out clearer that I'd originally written, and some wasn't quite as good as I remember. Ah well.

And, I don't think it's a condition of the human race; I believe it's a condition of our current culture. We've become so selfish, and self-centered (yeah, it's me saying that) that we have a really hard time stepping outside ourselves and try and understand someone else's experience.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09056596421731911345noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2121153669011167070.post-65473450352284170262011-04-25T08:10:03.411-07:002011-04-25T08:10:03.411-07:00You should keep linking here from Facebook, I thin...You should keep linking here from Facebook, I think more people will see it.

The turtle comic was, actually, somewhat relevant to the situation you had, if ill-explained. It was not, however, what I would consider "comforting".

What was your original post going to be about?

As for your thoughts here:
It is something I have seen for a long time, and disliked about people in general. No one wants to listen, everyone wants to speak. Talking over one another, ignoring each other, always trying to step in the spot light.

I have taken it as a necessary evil present in most of the race, but always strive to never let it show in my own actions. When I was growing up, we were trained to speak out one at a time, even in the middle of heated debates 'round the dinner table.

It seems that this is not a common lesson learned when growing up. More's the pity.

-AshAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
